A husband who pummeled his cancer-stricken mother-in-law to the ground when he dropped his children off to his estranged wife has been seized by police.
Shocking CCTV footage of the attack shows the brutal doorstep attack in Ilkadim in the northern Turkish province of Samsun at around 7.25 pm on 8th May.
Healthcare worker and mother Duygu I., 37, had filed for a divorce against her 38-year-old husband C.I. claiming years of abuse.

As the husband turns up to drop off the couple’s children, her ex strides up to the door and immediately starts rowing with his mother-in-law.
Then as his estranged wife tries to keep them apart, he pulls her out of the way and begins a terrifying attack on her mother Faide Mermer, 59.
As she falls to the pavement, he aims punch after punch at her head and torso as the couple’s bemused three children look on.

At one point, even his young son is trying to pull him away.
On the day of the attack, the suspect had called his ex and asked where she was, under the pretext of dropping off their children who had stayed with him over the weekend.
Duygu, who went to her brother’s house with her mother told him to bring their children there.

As a result of the attack, Faide was badly beaten and her daughter suffered a foot injury while trying to protect her mother, according to reports.
Mother and daughter were taken to Gazi State Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, C.I. was detained by officers of the Ilkadim District Police Department, and was released after leaving a statement.

Expressing her dismay that the suspect was released while she was writhing in pain in hospital, Faide said: “I want the necessary punishment to be handed down, I am calling out to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.
“Are we women that worthless? Should this be our Mother’s Day gift? Help us. I want to be the voice of women. My daughter has experienced this violence for 13 years.”
She added: “I am calling out to our state elders. Save our women.”

The investigation continues.
