The footage shows the two horned sheep wandering around the classroom and defecating while the bemused students film them.

A second piece of footage shows the two sheep entering what appears to be a university lecture theatre as a confused lecturer looks on from behind a lectern.

Sheng Xing from the Hongde College of Arts and Sciences is quoted in local media reports as saying: “At 10 o’clock in the morning on December 14, there was a break between classes. In the first public classroom (first floor), two sheep were preparing to enter the classroom.

“The students in class crossed the threshold and walked into the classroom together. Seeing this interesting scene, the students recorded videos and posted them on social platforms such as Douyin and WeChat Moments, which aroused the attention of netizens.

“In fact, the students were very concerned about these little things. The sheep are already very familiar. They were purchased and raised by the school itself.

“Because there are many lawns on campus that need to be taken care of, the teacher in charge of greening of the General Affairs Office bought a few lambs. For one, the sheep eat grass and can take care of the lawn.

“Secondly, sheep dung can be used as a fertiliser for lawns, and thirdly, it can cultivate the love of teachers and students and create a warm campus culture.”

The sheep reportedly left the classroom after the lesson.
