This is the adorable raccoon called Zorro who has helped in the effort to save the life of his pal Rocket by donating blood.

The cute raccoon named Zorro lives at a scientific zoo called Vsyo Kak U Zverey (Everything Is Like Animals Have) located in the city of Yekaterinburg in western Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast region.

Local media report another raccoon called Rocket – presumably named after the Marvel character – who has a private owner, contracted a virus and its vital organs started to shut down.

Rocket’s owner contacted the scientific zoo asking for help and they suggested Zorro donate blood for a diffusion.

By the time the procedure was ready to be carried out Rocket was reportedly suffering from anaemia and the situation was worsening.

Vasilisa Valova from Vsyo Kak U Zverey said: “Rocket has very few red blood cells, the existing ones are getting destroyed and the new ones are not being created.”

After making sure that Zorro’s blood was compatible with Rocket’s, vets took 100 millilitres of blood to help a raccoon in need.

Zorro went through the procedure better than anyone expected, staying calm and did not show any signs of aggression.

Zorro is still recovering from anaesthesia at home and Rocket had to stay at the veterinary clinic a little longer to receive the transfusion.

There is no information on Rocket’s condition yet.

Netizen ‘millerxxxx’ said: “They are both so cute. Zorro is a real hero.”

While ‘Anna’ added: “This is simply adorable.”
