This is the shocking moment a child is run over by a car but still manages to get up afterwards and run off.

The incident took place in the city of Atarib, which is located in the Aleppo governorate some 25 kilometres (16 miles) from the city of the same name in north-western Syria.

The footage shows a man leaving a building and getting into a parked car.

At the same time, a young boy, not named and whose age was not given, wanders into the frame in front of the car. The driver however does not appear to notice, driving off and knocking the young boy over.

The car then passes over the boy with all four wheels seeming to miss him.

The footage, which was caught by a CCTV camera, shows the boy running off as the footage ends, presumably terrified by what just happened.

The car starts to round a street corner but then comes to a stop briefly before continuing on its way.

The boy’s health status is currently unclear but it is believed that he was unharmed in the incident.

The local authorities have yet to confirm whether they are investigating the matter.
