This is the moment a motorist rams two thieves on a motorbike as they rob a couple on the street, leaving one suspect with a busted leg that led to his hospitalisation and arrest.

The incident was filmed by CCTV cameras on Januario Zingaro Street in the area of Campo Limpo in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo at around 2pm on 2nd October.

In the footage, two thieves on a motorbike are seen holding up a couple on the side of the road.

One of the thieves appears to point a gun at the victims as they raise their hands in the air.

However, they notice a white SUV entering the street after reportedly trying to rob the driver moments before.

The pair attempts to flee the scene on the motorbike, but the SUV driver speeds up and rams their motorbike as the stunned couple runs away.

In the next scene, the two suspects, one with an apparent busted leg, scramble onto the motorbike and ride off.

According to the news site G1, one suspect was arrested after admitting himself to the Campo Limpo Hospital with a broken leg.

The police also took a statement from the 32-year-old SUV driver, name not reported, who explained that the suspects tried to rob him shortly before targeting the couple on the street.

He added that he saw the suspects in the road and tried to speed away from the scene, but he lost control and accelerated into the motorbike.

The police have confirmed that they are continuing to track down the second suspect as the investigation continues.
