This is the moment a girl pummels a classmate on the school playing field because she ‘liked’ a social media snap of her boyfriend.

The incident was filmed at a high school in the city of Stara Zagora in the southern Bulgarian province of the same name, and the footage was widely shared on social media.

In the clip, a group of schoolgirls are seen talking on the field before one of them appears to try to take the victim’s phone.

The victim refuses and she is pulled to the ground by a girl in a red T-shirt who then starts pummelling her.

The girl gets to her feet and repeatedly kicks the victim as onlookers try to separate the pair.

According to local media, the brawl was eventually broken up by a school security guard.

The Veterinarian High School head said the argument was over an Instagram snap of a boy that the victim ‘liked’ and commented on.

The victim’s father said the girl is struggling to cope with the stressful incident and the school has arranged a meeting with the girls involved and their parents, according to reports.

The local education authority has said that a committee will be formed to decide on the next course of action.

No names and ages have been mentioned and it is unclear if a police report has been filed.
