This mother of two has been found dead in the water tank at her boyfriend’s home and he has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The shocking incident took place in the city of Ecatepec in the state of Mexico in central Mexico after victim Alicia Cortez Lara, 39, left her two children, a 14-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy, at school on 21st of February.

Later that day Cortez Lara reportedly sent a text message to her teenager daughter saying that she had to travel abroad and she was not seen again by her family.

Reports state that the family went to the police as they suspected her partner Marco Antonio Sanchez, who was also her boss at a local company named Maga Clean, could have hurt her.

Francisco, her ex-husband and the father of the teenage children, told local media: “Three weeks before she was attacked, she intended to break up the relationship, she even said that she wanted to quit her job.”

The victim’s body was reportedly found inside a water tank at one of Sanchez’s properties by the Attorney’s Office Specialised In Missing People Cases (FIPEDE).

Karina, the victim’s niece, told local media: “We were told that they had found the body in Ecatepec on a property that belonged to Marco Antonio. He killed her, he confessed and he has been arrested.”

The suspect is reportedly under police custody while local authorities have classified the murder as femicide, local media reported.

The investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if the suspect has been charged.
