This is the moment a Russian woman throws her newborn baby daughter into a rubbish bin.

The woman, name not reported, was filmed by a CCTV camera throwing the bag in the bin that was later found to be a baby, fortunately still alive.

The incident took place in the Russian capital Moscow earlier this month.

In the CCTV footage, the woman is seen walking to the bin and placing a bag inside before hurrying away and looking around as she does so to check if she is being watched.

It is unclear who called the police, however, officers arrived on the scene soon afterwards and found the baby girl wrapped in a jacket inside a plastic bag.

The baby, still alive and said to be one day old, was sent to a medical centre to be checked by doctors and currently remains in their care in a stable condition, according to reports.

The police tracked down the suspected mother and placed her under arrest for the attempted murder of a newborn child.

Yulia Ivanova, assistant head of the Moscow State Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, confirmed that the suspect has been stripped of any parental rights and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
