This is the moment a gunman takes a female bank worker hostage to rob over 14,000 GBP only to reportedly pay it back into a bank later on to repay loans.

The startling incident took place at the Otkritiye bank on Sherbakovka street in the city of Tyumen in Tyumen Oblast in south-central Russia and was recorded by CCTV cameras.

In the video, a gunman can be seen in the bank with his weapon drawn when he begins walking behind one of the desks and grabs a female worker by her arm.

He then puts his arm around her neck and appears to hold the gun to her head as he demands cash, which he takes from another worker.

CCTV footage then shows him running away from the scene and reports state he stole 1.2 million RUB (14,513 GBP) from the bank.

Cops later identified a suspect from the Caucasus region in south-western Russia and footage shows them making an arrest in a home.

The suspect had allegedly already paid the money back into a bank by the time he was arrested, with reports stating he used the loot to pay off numerous bank loans.

The case is ongoing and the suspect has been charged with robbery. He reportedly faces a prison sentence of between eight and 15 years if found guilty.
