This is the moment a Russian police officer crashes into the back of a lorry while overtaking in a road tunnel and dies on the spot.
The incident took place in the city of Sochi in the south-western Russian region of Krasnodar Krai when the unnamed 42-year-old cop was overtaking in a road tunnel.
In the footage, filmed by the dash cam of another vehicle in the tunnel, the officer’s white Toyota Mark X is seen swerving around one vehicle before overturning the next car in the tunnel.
The Toyota then slams into the back of a lorry and the roof is seen completely flattened.
The emergency services received a call at around 3pm and attended the scene.
Local media said the police officer, who was driving a right-hand steering wheel vehicle at the time, died on the spot.
It is unclear whether he was on duty at the time of the crash.
Reports said that no one else was injured in the accident.
Netizen ‘BabaikaBabaikin’ said: “Traffic regulations state that it is illegal to overtake in road tunnels, but this guy was a cop…”
