This is the shocking moment a young man faints in the middle of the road and his head is run over by the wheel of a lorry.

The incident, which was caught on a local business’ security camera, took place in the Guatemalan city of Quezaltenango at noon on Monday, 8th November.

The victim, a 19-year-old man named as Vicente Fernando Lux Casimiro, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bomberos Voluntarios (Volunteer Firefighters).

The footage shows the teen walking out into the road before appearing to suddenly fall drowsy, stumbling backwards and falling on his back.

He is seen falling partially under a passing lorry, which appears to run over his head and upper chest with its back wheel before coming to a halt.

One witness is seen looking on in shock and another man is seen going over to check on the victim before appearing in despair.

Some media outlets originally reported that Lux, who hailed from nearby Santa Rita village, may have been drunk at the time.

However, an anonymous friend of the victim later revealed that the teen regularly suffered epileptic fits and was having one at the time of the incident, as reported in the local news outlet La Voz de Xela.

According to reports, the lorry driver was due to give a statement to the Policia Nacional Civil (Civil National Police) on the day of the incident, but the outcome had not been reported as of the time of writing.

According to the media outlet TV Azteca Guate, the Ministerio Publico (Public Prosecutor’s Office) is investigating the case.
