A man who allegedly had his fingertip bitten off by a woman he was trying to rape has been arrested after cops found the missing part of his digit.

Police in Ellerbek, a municipality in the district of Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany arrested a 35-year-old man accused of trying to rape a 23-year-old girl in the region.

The woman was attacked at the weekend, when a man pushed her to the ground after she got off a tram and tried to force himself upon her.

The victim kicked and screamed and tried to push him away before biting his fingertip off before managing to flee.

The fingertip was recovered from the scene by police.

Police have now arrested a 35-year-old man they believe tried to rape the woman after a tip-off by a witness lead to the man’s arrest.

A police spokesman said: “It is highly probable that the fingertip found at the scene belongs to the man.”

A DNA test is being carried out.

The man faces attempted rape charges.
