Medics responding to an ’emergency’ were stunned when the inanimate victim they had been called out to rescue turned out to be a mannequin’s legs poking out from under a bush.

The incident took place in the city of Olsztyn in the north-eastern Polish region of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship when an anonymous call was placed with the emergency services.

They responded to the 112 call despite not having much information about the caller or the ‘victim’.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, instead of finding a person to rescue, they were stumped to find a mannequin’s legs sticking out from under the bushes.

The model’s legs were dressed in jeans, socks and shoes and looked like a motionless body.

Krzysztof Jurolajc, a spokesman for the Provincial Emergency Service Station, told local media: “In such cases, rescuers are obliged to react immediately.”

Jurolajc said that they are unsure whether the emergency call was genuine or perhaps an inappropriate prank, adding: “The person who reported this case showed extreme carelessness.”

Netizen ‘Piotr Kucper’ joked: “Rescuers will be back again when the top half of the mannequin jumps from a roof later on.”

While ‘Miko Tomas’ wrote: “It has shoes so it must be alive!”
