Man Knocked Out By Cancer Patient Plunging From Hospital

This is the moment – seen over three million times online – a terminal cancer patient falling from a hospital building lands on a young man waiting for his dad to finish his surgery.

The incident happened in the courtyard of the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, which is in Harbin, capital of north-eastern China’s Heilongjiang Province, on 19th August.

CCTV footage shows the unnamed man, 27, standing in the courtyard and reportedly smoking a cigarette while waiting for his parent to come out of the operating theatre.

He is suddenly struck from above when the female patient, 49, falls on top of him, with both immediately knocked out and left motionless on the ground.

According to reports, the unconscious man was taken inside the hospital where doctors confirmed he suffered a fracture of his thoracic spine.

He is recovering and in stable condition.

The female patient, who is said to have had end-stage ovarian cancer, did not survive the fall.

She reportedly had no insurance and was unable to pay for her treatment, leading to the decision to reportedly take her own life.

The tragedy is still being investigated.
