A 68-year-old voyeur in France has been arrested for drugging his wife and inviting as many as 50 men to gang-rape her over a period of years.

The shocking crime was revealed when the man was arrested for filming under women’s skirts.

The unnamed suspect, who is being held in the commune of Carpentras in the department of Vaucluse in the south-eastern French region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, was arrested on 2 November, according to news source Actu17.

Investigations began on 12 September when the elderly man was caught filming under three women’s skirts in a town supermarket, according to the newspaper Le Dauphine Libere.

After being taken into custody, the suspect was released and a psychiatric examination later revealed an alleged tendency to voyeurism.

A subsequent search of the man’s house reportedly showed that the man had been administering high doses of anxiolytics before sexually abusing her and even inviting others to rape her while he filmed.

The police seized digital cameras amid claims he also organised around 30 gang rapes involving around 50 men since 2015.

The victim, name and age not disclosed, is currently receiving counselling. She said that she was unaware of any of the allegations brought to light during the investigation.

The suspect was charged on 4 November and is being remanded in custody as the investigation continues.
