Blonde Christa Rigozzi, 40, had posted the photographs of the New Year skiing break in Zermatt while she was away with her husband and twin daughters.

But within hours they had been spotted by crooks who broke into the family home 90 miles away in Monte Carasso, Ticino Canton.

TV presenter Christa, who crowned Miss Switzerland 2006, only discovered the burglary when the family returned to their home on 4th Juanuary.

She told her 60,000 Instagram followers: “We are healthy but something bad happened, affected our family, my children and my husband and I need time to process and digest the whole thing and at some point I will tell you.

“But now I have to tell my family and protect myself.

“I’m not always online but I read you and I thank you for all the messages, comments, wishes, emails… They give me strength and help me a lot!”

Earlier Christa had posted a stream of snaps from the family holiday in the Swiss Alps.

One set even showed the couple’s twin daughters Alissa and Zoe celebrating their seventh birthday.

Adrian Gaugler from the Conference of Cantonal Police Commanders in Switzerland warned that holiday social media posts can lead to break-ins.

He said: “If you show in advance or in real-time and publicly that you are not at home, burglars can take advantage of that.

“Celebrities and public figures in particular could be targeted.

“Sometimes it’s better to only publish your holiday impressions on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Co. after you return.”

Police investigating the burglary would only tell local media: “We are not providing any further information about this case.”
