This footage shows firefighters rescuing a man who impaled his foot on railings after falling from a balcony trying to break into his own home.

Father-of-three Fehmi Ceviren, 35, tried to climb onto the balcony after realising he had locked himself out of his second floor flat.

But he slipped and fell, landing with one foot impaled on a sharp railing of the fence of the building in the city of Turgutlu in western Turkey’s Manisa Province.

Smartphone footage shot be eyewitnesses shows him – visibly in agony – sitting on a gurney while firefighters use specialist cutting equipment to cut through the railing.

Mr Ceviren was later rushed by ambulance to the nearby Turgutlu State Hospital with part of the railing still stuck through his foot.

He was immediately rushed into surgery where doctors successfully removed the piece of metal from his foot. He is still being treated in hospital where his condition is described as stable.

The construction worker had gone out, leaving his keys inside his flat, and realised he was locked out when he returned home.

As his relatives live in the first floor flat immediately below his home, he got them to let him in and tried to climb up onto his own balcony but lost his balance.

After realising he had fallen onto the railings, his family called the emergency services, and firefighters, police and paramedics raced to the scene.
