Man Arrested For Charging People To Cross Motorway With Ladder

A man seen here charging people to cross a motorway divider using a ladder has been arrested.

The man, named as Mohamed Rabibul, 26, was reported after he came up with an unusual way to earn money on the busy Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Bangladesh on 17th March.

The video shows a group of people waiting on the other side of the wall while Mohamed stands with the ladder on the other side of the motorway divider.

People can be seen paying cash and then being allowed to cross the wall using the ladder.

The police said they arrested Rabibul the same day after the video caused safety concerns.

The Roads and Highways Department told local media they will put a barbed wire fence at the place to prevent any repetition.

They added that the four-lane Dhaka-bound road from Kanchpur Bridge in Siddhirganj to the Kuwait Plaza area was divided into two lanes with high dividers to prevent risky road crossings and ensure long-distance vehicles’ direct route to Dhaka.

The crossing point has been closed for two months, and passengers have been crossing roads by jumping the lane’s divider, according to local media.
