Lada Driver Killed After Crashing Into Train At Level Crossing And Being Dragged Along Track

This is the moment a freight train passes a level crossing with a Lada stuck in its side after the driver reportedly crashed into it following a row with his wife.

The Lada driver, whose name was not revealed, reportedly crashed into the train at a level crossing near the village of Yagodny in the suburbs of Barnaul in the Russian republic of Altai.

The footage shows a motorist at another level crossing filming the freight train passing with a silver car wedged underneath a carriage, and being dragged along the icy ground.

According to the news site Komsomolskaya Pravda, the car was dragged along the track for several kilometres and when it was finally removed the driver was found to be dead.

West Siberian Railway spokesperson Vitaly Klein said: “According to preliminary data, train workers did not feel the impact of the car hitting the train leaving it being trapped in the middle of the wagons.

“The train had 62 wagons and was loaded with coal.”

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Altai Republic said the Lada driver, who was born in 1973, was alone in the car at the time and was killed as a result of the incident.

Komsomolskaya Pravda said the father-of-four had a row with his wife stormed out of the house to get behind the wheel.

However, the local authorities have yet to confirm whether the victim was drunk at the time of his death, and the investigation is ongoing.
