Trial For Woman Who Killed In Laws To Stop Them Revealing She Was Pregnant With Another Mans Baby

A woman accused of murdering her in-laws to stop them from revealing that she was pregnant with another man’s baby is set to go on trial in Italy.

Albanian Elona Kalesha, 36, could not have been made pregnant by her husband, as he was in jail at the time, and she is accused of murdering her in-laws Shpetim and Teuta Pasho, 54 and 52, in 2015 to stop them telling their son, her partner, that she had cheated on him.

Their remains were found in four suitcases in the Italian city of Florence, in the Tuscany region, in December 2020.

Kalesha, an Albanian citizen living in Italy, is now set to go on trial over the death of the couple, who were also Albanian, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for 3rd December.

The woman allegedly killed the parents of her now former partner Taulant Pasho so she could keep her secret after they discovered that Taulant was not the biological father of her baby.

It was not revealed how she allegedly murdered them, but she is said to have chopped up their dead bodies and dumped them in four suitcases next to the Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorway.

The victims were reported as missing in November 2015, and the four suitcases were only discovered in December last year.

Prosecutors said the motive was to hide her pregnancy from her partner, Taulant Pasho, who was serving time in prison for drug dealing.

Taulant was already behind bars when Kalesha became pregnant, according to reports.

When she learned about the pregnancy, Kalesha feared what her husband would do when he was released from the Sollicciano prison in November 2015.

Kalesha was worried that her in-laws would tell their son about the affair and pregnancy, so she hatched a plan to kill them, according to prosecutors.

She reportedly underwent an abortion on 27th October 2015, five days before the victims went missing.

In court, Taulant admitted that he never knew about his wife’s pregnancy and abortion.

However, Kalesha’s defence lawyer said no evidence of the defendant’s DNA was found on the handles of the suitcases and called for her to be acquitted.

The investigations began on 10th December 2020, when the owner of a plot of land near the Sollicciano prison, which is located in the comune of Scandicci, on the outskirts of Florence, reported the presence of the first suitcase. He told investigators that he opened it and found the bust of a white man between 40 and 60 years old.
