Accused Omer Faruk Arslan, 37, has reportedly admitted to killing his daughter Adara and leaving her corpse in a coal shed.

Her body was found hidden under bags of coal and kindling in an outbuilding at her aunt’s home in Batman, Turkey, on 30th January.

Arslan had persuaded his in-laws to let him see her during a visit to the city and then choked her hours after she was handed over the day before (29th January).

Scratches on Arslan’s face – say investigators – were caused when terrified Adara tried to defend herself.

While in police custody, he reportedly confessed to strangling his daughter to make his estranged wife suffer.

She has been named only as MA in local media and Arslan had reportedly argued with his in-laws several months ago in the lead-up to divorce proceedings.

An autopsy is being carried out on Adara’s body.

Police had arrested Arslan on a bus to Istanbul as he tried to flee to Istanbul and he reportedly confessed to her killing.

Arslan has been remanded in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
