This Brazilian martial arts enthusiast has reportedly had her nose broken in three places by her kickboxing instructor ex-boyfriend who attacked her in a jealous rage.

Kellen Rodrigues Freitas, 30, spent four days in hospital after allegedly receiving a ferocious punch to the face from her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old kickboxing instructor Rubens Figueira dos Santos.

The attack took place during a get-together at the gym where Santos, known professionally as ‘Rubinho Bicho Brabo’, teaches in the neighbourhood of Honorio Gurgel in the city of Rio de Janeiro on 13th December.

Rodrigues claimed on social media that a friend helped her when her jealous ex-boyfriend turned up and allegedly punched her in the face.

She said: “I may have been saved by her reaction. At the time, it was just quick-thinking, she grabbed an object and threw it at him.

“He fell, and I managed to run and flee from further beating. It could have been different… It could have been a lot more than a fractured nose.”

Local media said Rodrigues had to undergo a six-hour operation following the sucker punch from Santos, who she had been in a relationship for a little over a year before splitting up two months prior.

The incident was reported to the police.

Santos later claimed on social media that he regretted his actions. However, he deleted the post hours later.

Rodrigues said she is still shaken by the attack and has decided to leave Rio de Janeiro for her safety, according to one local media source.

She said: “Women were not made to be beaten. Don’t be quiet, report it because it’s a crime. It’s violence against women.”

The investigation into Santos is ongoing.
