Two alleged members of the bloodthirsty Jalisco New Generation Cartel have been arrested for the murder of a Mexican federal judge who was executed with his wife at their home.

Jaime Tafolla Ortega, alias El Alacran, and Ayard Buenorostro, alias El Canelo, have both been arrested for their alleged links with the murder of federal judge Uriel Villegas Ortiz and his wife Veronica Barajas in the state of Colima, in western Mexico, on 16th June.

According to reports, the suspects pretended to be interested in a vehicle the judge had put up for sale. They then went into the judge’s house and asked for the documentation to start the process of the sale.

However, once they were back outside they then allegedly shot the judge and his wife to death, leaving one of the bodies on the stairs by the front door.

The victims’ two children and a woman who worked in the house survived the attack.

According to investigators, suspect Ortega is also believed to be linked with the kidnapping and murder of congresswoman Anel Bueno Sanchez, whose body was found on 3rd June after going missing for 34 days.

David Ulises Lara Ramirez has also been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of the congresswoman while Ortega’s father (Heliodoro Tafolla Chavez), mother (Eustoria Ortega Gomez), brother (Heriberto Tafolla Ortega), and sister-in-law (Danna Fernandez Chavez) were all also arrested in the investigation.

Victim Villegas Ortiz had been sent to be part of the court in Colima and had reportedly rejected the offer of security given by the state because he believed he was not at risk.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel have been blamed for his murder.
