These images show the shocking injuries of a student who broke his humerus bone in two places while arm wrestling with a pal.

The incident took place in the district of Wujin in the city of Changzhou located in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu when the student, identified as Xu, was socialising with an unnamed friend.

According to local media, the pair decided to arm wrestle and while locked in ‘battle’ Xu said he heard a “crack” and found that he could no longer move his left arm.

The 21-year-old student was then taken to the Changzhou Wujin District Qianhuang People’s Hospital by ambulance where doctors diagnosed two fractures to his humerus bone located between the shoulder and the elbow joint, according to reports.

Doctor Li Xiaolong said that hospital staff were “surprised” when they looked at the patient’s X-ray and saw that his “left humerus was totally broken into two places”.

The doctor said “such severe fractures are often found in traumatic accidents” while adding that Xu has suffered “several cases of broken wrists before”.

He explained: “The bone may not be able to withstand a sudden transverse force, just like we can break a stick easily by applying transverse force.”

According to local media, Xu has undergone surgery and is now recovering at home.
