A young man who had recently returned to Albania after living illegally in the UK has reportedly stabbed his girlfriend to death before killing himself by jumping from an eighth-floor apartment.

According to a friend, he committed the crime in a fit of jealousy after he saw some messages on his girlfriend’s mobile phone allegedly sent by her ex-boyfriend.

According to reports, 26-year-old Albanian national Clinton Pira used a knife to stab his girlfriend, 31-year-old Jaesackie Jaboah, who hailed from Ghana and had a French passport.

The incident took place in an apartment the couple was renting in the Albanian capital, Tirana, on Saturday, 2nd October. Jaboah was taken to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

After allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, Pira, who hailed from the Albanian-majority city of Debar in North Macedonia, allegedly jumped to his death from the eighth-floor apartment.

According to reports, Pira had been living illegally in England for several years, but had moved back to Albania, where he had previously been living, before the alleged crimes took place.

A friend of Pira, Wilson Kulemani, told Albania Live that Pira had not told his family that he had returned to Albania and that he was also having problems with his girlfriend.

Pira and Jaboah met online and were together for a year and a half. Kulemani denied their relationship was one of convenience for Pira to gain an immigration advantage.

According to Kulemani, Pira suffered from jealousy, and it was when he saw some messages on her mobile phone, allegedly sent by her ex-boyfriend, that the crime took place.

Kulemani also said that it was the first time Jaboah had visited Albania and that the two were planning to get married and live there for a while.

Local media did not report on the police investigation or the repatriation of Jaboah’s body.
