A Turkish teen has allegedly jumped to her death from a fifth-floor apartment after leaving a note claiming that her boyfriend’s father had sexually abused her.
The victim’s family, however, believes she was thrown to her death by her boyfriend and his dad.
Aleyna Aggul, an 18-year-old school leaver who lived in the neighbourhood of 14 Kasim in the eastern Turkish city of Igdir, allegedly jumped from the building on Saturday, 2nd October.
By the time the emergency services made it to the scene, the teen was already dead.
The Igdir Police Department launched an investigation into the incident after discovering that Aleyna had allegedly left a note reading: “Gokhan Argin is responsible for my death.”
According to the news site Haberler, Aleyna had been in a long-term relationship with his son, 18-year-old Gokturk Argin.
Gokhan, who works in the construction business, allegedly saw nude photos of Aleyna while checking his son’s mobile phone.
The 42-year-old man called Aleyna to his office, where he allegedly blackmailed the teen with the photographs and sexually abused her.
Aleyna, who reportedly fell into depression as a result, then allegedly ended her life by throwing herself from the fifth floor.
Gokhan and Gokturk were arrested as part of the investigation that was launched in the wake of the incident.
After giving their statements, the two were provisionally released under judicial control due to a lack of evidence.
Aleyna’s family spoke to reporters about the release of the father and son, who they hold responsible for their daughter’s death.
Aleyna’s father Kemal Aggul, who does not believe his daughter killed herself, said: “It was not a suicide, they plotted against my daughter. There were no broken bones in my daughter’s body, just a blow to the back of her head. They killed my daughter and left her there. They threw her from the top floor of the building where her uncle lived and made it look like suicide.”
Aleyna’s body was buried in the Igdir Asri Cemetery. A post-mortem was conducted but the report, which could shed some light on the teenager’s death, has yet to be released.
The investigation continues.
