This is the moment an elderly woman bursts into tears as a kind cop brings the shopping round after she said she had been several days without food during COVID-19 self-isolation.

The kindhearted gesture was filmed in the neighbourhood of Villas de Granada, in the locality of Engativa, a district in the Colombian capital Bogota, and the video was later shared on Twitter where it has been viewed 30,000 times.

In the footage, the unnamed elderly woman is seen crying as the cop hands her shopping items after she had reportedly been several days at home without any food.

Another woman is heard saying: “With a lot of love, neighbour. Do not cry. This is for you to eat well.”

At the end of the clip, the woman and the cop share an embrace and a few kind words to each other.

She tells him: “God bless you.”

The Bogota police said on Twitter: “In Engativa, our officers in Villas de Granada helped an elderly woman last night.

“She asked for help because she had been several days without any food. We gave her food for dinner and breakfast and the following day we will return with more groceries to help her.”

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Colombia has registered 2,223 cases of COVID-19, 69 related deaths and 174 recoveries.
