HIT THE FLAN: Stray Bullet Pierced Wall And Hit Party Pudding

This is the messy moment when a stray bullet pierced the wall of a holiday home and splattered a creme caramel pudding on the dinner table.

The rogue round passed clean through the wall of the house in Itaborai, Brazil, during the family’s New Year’s Eve meal.

Astonishingly, it missed everyone in the room but scored a direct hit on the night’s dessert.

One photograph shows how the bullet took a large chunk out of the ring-shaped flan.

Office worker Thais Sampaio, 27, told how she had rented the property to celebrate the big night with her family and friends.

But when the clock struck midnight, a bullet fired into the air outside to mark the arrival of the New Year had come flying through the wall.

It passed just inches from her three-year-old son Pedro and landed squarely in the sweet pudding.

Thais recalled: “I was almost a victim. Not just me, but my husband, my son, and my friends.”

She told local media: “I was behind the table that was hit, the bullet hit the pudding and the dish, and then my table.

“Thank God nothing happened, the bullet landed on the table. It was my husband who saw it and said, ‘Thais, that’s a gunshot.’

“We even heard the bang, we looked to the side and saw that the pudding was deformed, there was pudding everywhere.

“We noticed that the shot hit the pudding and came towards us. It was a deliverance, the first deliverance of the year!

“It was a very fearful moment. We left where we were and went to the other side because we didn’t know if there would be more shooting.”

After getting over the initial shock, the group wolfed down what was left of the dessert and kept the bullet as a memento.

Davison Fagundes, who was also at the party, said: “It’s absurd for crooks to shoot in the air, obviously it will fall somewhere and runs the risk of hitting someone.”
