A mother has given birth to a baby born with two heads, four arms and two legs due to a rare medical condition.

Up to the torso, the conjoined siblings seem to be just one baby.

But after the chest, they each have their own two arms, necks and head, revealed local media in Mansoura, Egypt.

The babies’ mother, who has not been named, was reportedly aware that she was expecting conjoined twins and gave birth after a conventional nine-month pregnancy.

The gender of the siblings has not been revealed.

An expert medical team had been set up to oversee the birth at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mansoura University Main Hospital.

The complicated birth was assisted by Dr Muhammad Fikri, from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Dr Kholoud Al-Muji and Dr Muhammad Ali.

Supervision was provided by Dr Al-Shaarawi Kamal, Director General of the main university hospital, Dr Muhammad Al-Nujairi, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments, and Dr Hossam Gouda, Dr Hind Shalaby and Dr Al-Husseini Ahmed.

The twins were swiftly transferred to the University Children’s Hospital.

It is reportedly unlikely that the twins will ever be separated as they share too many organs through the abdomen and chest and would not be able to survive alone.
