This is the heartwarming moment a DHL delivery driver gives a pensioner with a walking frame a piggyback across a busy road.

The DHL delivery driver was hailed a “superhero” after his act of kindness was caught on a motorist’s dashcam in the island city state of Singapore.

The footage begins with the delivery man noticing the older man struggling to make it over a pedestrian crossing and offering him a hand.

At first, he simply tries to help the pensioner with his walking frame but then he realises something more drastic is required.

The DHL man hoists the OAP onto his back and carries him, and his walking frame, over the crossing before delivering them safely to the other side.

Cameraman ‘Hambali Leonardi’, who later shared his footage on the ‘Roads.sg’ page on Facebook, commented: “Not all superheroes wear capes.”

He added: “As the traffic lights turned green this guy did the most amazing thing. The DHL driver stopped his vehicle at one side, crossed over from the opposite side and came to provide assistance.

“In my books, the DHL driver is a hero who went above and beyond to help the elderly man. I was really touched by his kindness and and felt that faith in humanity has been restored.”

The video also made a big impression with online commentators such as ‘Eunice Lim’ who said: “Thank God, there is still warmth and kindness in this world.”

‘Jenny Chia’ added: “Heartwarming act full of love. Thank you so much for showing such great love and charity even to a complete stranger. You are amazing! May God bless you abundantly!”
