This is the moment a gas leak at a noodle restaurant causes a massive explosion that spews a cloud of dust and debris onto a busy road.

The blast was captured by a traffic camera in Yantai’s Fushan District in East China’s Shandong Province at roughly 8am local time on 18th May.

The clip shows vehicles and pedestrians using the multi-lane Songxia Road in front of a row of shops when the ground floor suddenly explodes.

A bright spark can be seen as the cylinder is ignited and erupts, destroying the shopfront and sending concrete and countless types of other debris flying into the road.

Luckily, no moving cars or pedestrians appear to have been directly in front of the business at the time of the explosion, with nearby witnesses seen ducking for cover or running away.

Local district authorities say one person was seriously injured during the accident, which has been put down to a gas leak.

The cause of the incident is, however, still being investigated.

Local media reports say the young man who owns the noodle shop also works as the restaurant’s only server. He started his business earlier this year.

It is still unclear whether he was the one injured during the blast.
