At face value, she looks like any devoted wife posing adoringly with her husband.
But this is Adriana Meza Torres, said to be the wife and heir of notorious drug lord El Chapo’s son Ovidio Guzman.
And if that is not enough to make her drug trafficking royalty, her father was Raul Meza ‘M-6’ Ontiveros, a high-ranking chief of El Chapo’s Mexican Sinaloa Cartel before his assassination in 2007.
Little wonder that Torres is now being dubbed the new queen of the cartel and her father-in-law’s drug dynasty.
Ovidio ‘El Raton’ Guzman, 32, was arrested in a bloody shootout with Mexican troops in Culiacan on 5th January, leaving 29 dead.
He is currently awaiting the verdict of an extradition application from US authorities.
Torres has reportedly been dubbed the “Queen of the Sinaloa Cartel”.
Some of her bank accounts were frozen by the Mexican authorities in 2019 after Ovidio Guzman was arrested a first time.
Torres’s TikTok accounts name her as the ‘boss’ wife’ and portray a life of luxury.
She reportedly claimed that she was involved in agriculture in a so-far unsuccessful bid to have her accounts unfrozen.
Mexican media have reported that she is part of the “Los Chapitos” group – which includes some of El Chapo’s sons – currently fighting for control of the Sinaloa Cartel.
They are facing resistance from the last remaining member of the “old guard”, named as Ismael Zambada Garcia, also known as ‘El Mayo.’
Torres is now said to have become the successor to Emma Coronel, El Chapo’s wife.
El Chapo – Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, 65 – is currently serving life in a maximum security prison in Colorado, in the USA.
