This video captures the moment a young influencer and mum of two is shot dead on a busy street, causing bystanders to flee in panic.
The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Ipsep, in the city of Recife, in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco, at about 4.45am on Monday, 21st March.
CCTV caught the moment tattooed Bruna do Nascimento Marques Maciel, 21, and her friend were waiting outside the bar they had been dancing the night away in for a taxi they had ordered by app.
The footage shows how a man approaches the influencer and shoots her from behind, causing her to drop to the ground. He then fires two more bullets at her as those around flee in panic.
Bruna had 139,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing and she had posted a video of herself singing and dancing in the bar with her friend just hours before the fatal shooting.
The police have not yet clarified the motive for the murder. They are working with several lines of investigation, including femicide. The suspect, who managed to escape, remains unidentified.
According to the police, the suspect had waited for around an hour outside the bar for Bruna to emerge. They also revealed that all three bullets hit Bruna in the neck and that the firearm was probably a revolver.
According to netizens who have been leaving their messages of condolences on social media, Bruna leaves behind two young children.
