A man who slit his ex’s throat and stuffed it with dog excrement after she broke up with him has been jailed for life.

Defendant Dennis Holstein, 26, from the Greven-Reckenfeld area in the city of Munster, North Rhine-Westphalia State, Germany, was sentenced to life on Monday, 3rd April.

The verdict followed after he was found guilty of murder and attempting to cover the murder of his ex-girlfriend Pia Stelzer, 25, who he knifed to death on 27th August 2022.

Bizarre court evidence revealed that Holstein had even stuffed the throat of the beautiful geriatric nurse with dog faeces before hiding it in a bush.

Commenting on the violent act, Judge Elisabeth Huelsmann, 58, explained that Pia was “worth nothing” in Holstein’s eyes and added: “He wanted to dehumanise her.”

The 58-year-old Munster District Court judge also claimed that the offender was motivated by his incomprehensible sense of ownership” followed by desire for “punishment and retribution”.

Holstein and the victim lived in the same building after the 26-year-old automobile industry employee moved from the town of Bramsche, in Lower Saxony, about four years ago.

They reportedly started a romantic relationship that lasted for a month before she ditched him and left him devastated, but had remained in contact.

She was declared missing after Holstein went to pick her up from a fair one night, and ended up slitting her throat and stabbing her in the stomach.

A taxi driver passing by reportedly witnessed the scene and wanted to help the poor woman, but left after he was threatened by the offender.

Holstein reportedly admitted to the murder when questioned by investigators, after which he them to the place where he had disposed of Pia’s body.

Her body was found about 13 kilometres (8 miles) away from her flat on 30th August, 2022.

Holstein was reportedly kept in custody until the beginning of the trial and despite his confession to police, he remained silent during the trial.
