French Businessman Murdered During Robbery At Exclusive Venue In Mexico

A French businessman has reportedly been murdered during a robbery at one of his exclusive venues in Mexico City and his dead body was later found on a dirt road.

French-Mexican businessman Baptiste Jacques Daniel Lormand, 45, was found murdered on a dirt road in the Mexican capital Mexico City on 28th November.

He was found alongside a business associate who has been named by local media as Luis Orozco, however the authorities have yet to confirm his identity.

Both victims were reportedly found beaten and tied up with signs of torture.

Baptiste was last seen driving on the Cuernavaca motorway by a security camera on 26th November.

The authorities suspect the pair was killed during a robbery.

The businessman reportedly owned exclusive restaurants in the neighbourhood of Polanco and sold top brand alcohol.

Polanco is considered one of the most exclusive and affluent areas in the capital.

Mexico City police chief Omar Garcia Harfuch said: “There is no evidence that points towards kidnapping or extortion.

“The current main line of investigation is related to the business activities of the deceased, particularly concerning the sale of luxury alcoholic drinks.

“Investigations suggest that the suspects wanted to rob the merchandise on sale.”

No further information was given as to what was stolen during the incident.

The police chief said they have also received similar reports of theft from local business owners in the catering industry, however, no further information was given about those previous cases.

The investigation is ongoing.
