A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after pushing another teenage girl onto a train track not just once but twice in a row over boyfriends.

The incident happened in the German town of Zweibruecken which is in the province of Rhineland-Palatinate where the two girls had been arguing for some time.

It is alleged that the then 18-year-old pushed the other girl onto the track twice even though she knew a train was coming.

After the first shove, the other girl reportedly managed to climb back onto the platform, but then she was kicked, punched and once more thrown onto the train tracks. It was only when another woman intervened that she was finally pulled to safety.

The train driver who was one of the first to give evidence confirmed the girl been on the track which shows how dangerous the situation was.

Police said that prior to the argument, each of the girls accused the other of writing bad things about them. Each also claimed that the other then sent those messages to their respective boyfriends.

The shocking incident has now ended up in court in Zweibruecken where the teenager admitted that she carried out the attack, and pushed the other teen onto the tracks, but said because of the alcohol that she consumed she could remember little more.

Because the girl was 18 at the time, the trial is taking place in the youth division of the court. Both young women are now aged 19 and the court case is expected to continue until the end of the month.
