German cops handing out fines for speeding were surprised when they saw this image of a pram that had reportedly been travelling at 61 kilometres per hour.

The picture of the speeding pram containing a baby being pushed by a young mum was captured in the town of Balve in the Maerkischer Kreis district, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Police officers said that the radar trap of been introduced to catch people travelling over the 50 kilometres per hour limit.

He had already captured 265 speeding drivers since it was installed when it then captured the image of the young woman.

A police spokesman said that the radar has been triggered by the fact that a VW Golf, just visible in the background, had actually been travelling at 61 and triggered a photo to be taken just at the moment that a mother with her pram walked in front of the camera.

They said however that on this occasion the woman would not be fined and that the driver would also escape a fine as the woman was covering up the car’s licence plate.

Local media noted however that the police had at least got a laugh out of the experience, and decided to share it with others.

They noticed that the picture was taken on 11th November, which in Germany is the start of the carnival season.
