A 12-year-old Egyptian boy has died of a heart attack while playing the popular videogame PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for hours on end.
Egyptian media said the child was taken to Al-Salam Hospital in Port Said by ambulance after he died at home after reportedly suffering a sudden heart attack.
Emergency Directorate of Health Affairs confirmed that the child was already dead when his parents brought him to hospital.
It is reported that the youngster suffered a heart attack while playing the videogame PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) as they found his mobile phone next to him with the game running, according to the newspaper Youm7.
The boy’s body was sent to a nearby morgue and the public prosecutor’s office was notified so they could establish the causes behind his death before allowing the funeral.
According to Youm7, this is not the first time a gamer has died as a result of excessively playing PUBG.
An Indian child reportedly stopped eating and drinking for multiple days while another gamer allegedly killed himself when his family took away his phone because of the game.
