Spanish transgender beauty queen Angela Ponce has slammed the organisers of Miss Colombia for releasing their new set of rules which only accepts candidates who were born female.

Ponce, 29, made history in 2018 when she became the first openly transgender woman to be crowned Miss Spain.

However, she has slammed the organisers of Miss Colombia after they posted their rules for candidates to represent their country at Miss Universe.

One of the guidelines states that candidates have to be born female.

Ponce said: “This is mental slavery. The only thing they are doing is not giving the opportunity to women who can make Colombia proud and better.”

According to reports, the next Miss Colombia beauty queen, which will take place in the city of Barranquilla, has to be crowned before 1st November.

Meanwhile, other rules state that Colombian contestants should never have been married or given birth.

Participants are also not allowed to be pregnant and they have to be aged between 18 and 27.

Miss Colombia hopefuls should never have appeared naked in published videos or photos nor worked as a webcam model.

Models will also be rejected if they have appeared intoxicated on social media clips or if they have been convicted of a crime.

Miss Colombia director Natalie Ackerman said: “We are currently going through an important transition from the old rules. We still respect traditional elements but we are transitioning towards the same rules as Miss Universe.”
