A youth soccer coach who raped ten teenagers after drugging them with doped jelly beans has been jailed for nearly 13 years.
Accused 35-year-old Sven B. lured the under-14s players back to his home, where he doped them and filmed the abuse on his mobile phone.
Judges at Frankfurt District Court, Germany, heard how the coach used his role with third division SV Wehen Wiesbaden’s youth team to select and snare victims.
Prosecutors revealed how the trainer would create a crisis to get the young players to his home. where he could abuse them.
Then, the court heard, he would dope them with drugged chocolate jelly beans and alcohol so he could abuse them and film himself doing it.
On 23rd, March judges found the coach guilty of 69 counts of sexually abusing ten minors between 2014 and 2021.
He was jailed for 12 years and nine months.
German newspaper Bild reported that the coach – wearing a tank top, jeans and a shirt- put his hands in his pockets and showed no emotion at the sentence.
Frankfurt District Court’s judge said: “The charges came in 10 months ago, and I’ve been stunned ever since.
“On one hand the deeds, but also the long period of time and the high number, 69 cases were charged, all of which we convicted.
“One can assume that there were more cases.
“Apart from the crimes themselves, I was personally stunned by how easy it was for the accused.
“We’re not talking about neglected children, but they still didn’t manage to confide in their parents.
“He set up threatening scenes over the years and shot at the children with text messages almost every day.”
SV Wehen Wiesbaden sacked Sven B. when the accusations emerged.
The club announced: “We are supporting the parents of our squad members in their communication with the authorities.”
Latter investigations revealed that he was caught watching pornographic videos with other children at the age of 13.
He had also committed a series of crimes including fraud, robbery, collective robbery, and theft, but had always got away with warnings.
At the hearing on 23rd March, he was found guilty of aggravated rape, sexual assault, abuse, physical harm and the production of child pornography.
After announcing the verdict, the judge added: “One can only wish the injured parties a lot of strength.”
SV Wehen Wiesbaden commented on the sentence saying: “It is incomprehensible and shocking that people are capable of such terrible behaviour.
“The full severity of criminal law is necessary in order to punish these perpetrators and also to outlaw such a crime from society.”
