This footage shows how two men have been boiled alive after their car fell into a sinkhole full of searing hot water when an underground pipe burst.
The dramatic incident took place on Austrina Street in the city of Penza in western Russia’s Penza Oblast region and footage from a surveillance camera located nearby shows a Lada car approaching the sinkhole.
The car then drops into the smoking sinkhole sideways as onlookers rush to react. Another clip shows the van after it was pulled from the hole and startling images show one of the men inside being lifted from the hole.
Local media report both men died in the accident as they could not get out of the overturning car when it fell into the hot water.
The local emergency ministry claims that a pipe rupture was the cause for the sinkhole.
In Russia hot water is piped into buildings.
Police are yet to release information on the identities of the victims.
Netizen ‘Denis Petukhov’ said: “This is just terrible. Both of the men simply burned alive in this water…”
But another one ‘Enesey Sekte’ commented: “Based on the video these men seem to be kind of blind. They saw the sinkhole, they saw the smoke coming from it but still they drove towards it.”
While ‘Bdhdh dndn’ added: “I wish they were some politicians instead of those guys.”
