Female Lags Make Jail Cocktails From Sanitiser And Coke

The authorities in a Spanish prison have been forced to remove the alcohol gel in the women’s unit after inmates were caught drinking it with Coca Cola to create a homemade Cuba libre-style cocktail.

The bizarre incident took place in the library of the Brians 1 prison, located in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, in the eastern Spanish province of Barcelona in the Catalonia region.

Local media report the prison had installed the gels at the entrances to the unit and at the phone areas to ensure the safety and hygiene of the inmates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the gel had to be removed from the women’s unit just five later after the inmates were caught drinking it with Coca Cola to get drunk.

The gel will be kept in other areas of the prison.

Since the virus hit Europe wineries and distilleries in Spain have been offering their byproducts to create the disinfectant gel.

Even though some of the gels do not have a dangerously high level of alcohol, they should not be drunk because of their possible toxicity.

It is unclear if any of the inmates suffered health consequences after drinking the gel.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Spain has registered 245,268 cases of COVID-19, and 27,136 related deaths.
