This is the moment a charging mobile phone explodes in a worker’s face at a repair shop in Brazil.

The phone blast, which sent flames leaping towards the repairman’s face, took place at the shop in the city of Forquilha in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Ceara on 7th March.

According to the news site G1, the worker, name not reported, was working on another device when the faulty phone was brought into the shop and placed on charge.

He said a customer had come into the store with a phone with a swollen battery that was having problems charging.

The repairman said the device was still warm when the client brought it into the shop, and that it blew up when it was charging on a shelf next to the technician’s workstation.

In the CCTV footage, the repairman is seen working on a device at his desk while the faulty phone rests on a shelf to his right.

While consumed in his work, the phone suddenly explodes and flames leap into the technician’s face.

He immediately jumps back as the device continues to burn on the shelf.

The worker then returns, turns off the power supply and blows out the fire with his breath.

Despite the scare, the worker said he brought the flames under control shortly after it exploded and that the fire did not spread in the shop.
