This is the bizarre moment a brazen bus passenger accused by the driver of fare dodging protests his innocence by angrily sitting on the driver’s steering wheel causing the horn to sound loudly as other commuters berate him.

The amusing video was recorded by on-board cameras in the city of Baoshan in south-western China’s Yunnan Province on 19th February.

The footage shows the the elderly passenger, who is not named in reports, boarding the number 5 bus driven by Hu Mingshuang.

One pensioner appears to pull out his coin purse and produces a banknote, but he does not place it in the fare box and instead stumbles backwards into a nearby seat.

When Hu reminds him to pay his fare, the passenger becomes indignant and begins blaming him for driving off before he could put the money in the box.

According to Hu, he decided not to argue with the alleged fare dodger and instead suggested he get off at the next stop.

The video shows this angering the pensioner even more, causing him to spring up from his seat and approach the driver with a clenched fist.

When Hu stops the bus to prevent an accident, the angry passenger climbs over Hu’s lap, straddles him for a moment, and then sits right on top of his steering wheel.

In the video, the bus horn can be heard sounding as the man refuses to budge.

Hu eventually called the police and the passenger was detained on a public order offence.
