This husband has been charged with killing his wife by stabbing her 11 times in her upper body in front of their baby daughter.
Prosecutors in Jerusalem said that Eliran Malul, 34, acted “with particularly cruelty” when killing his wife Michal Sela, 32, in their home in the Motza area of the Israeli city.
Investigators claim that the pair had a tense relationship and the husband had shown jealousy in the past.
Prosecutors claim on the night if the murder Malul had hit his wife in the head in their baby daughter’s room. He is suspected of grabbing of a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbing her in the upper body after dragging her out of the room.
Local media report he then tried to kill himself, seriously injuring himself in the process before a neighbour reportedly found him holding their baby.
He reportedly claimed that his wife had committed suicide and was taken to a hospital for treatment but the authorities have now charged him with murder, saying he “cut short the life of a young, promising woman in her home, the place where she should have been protected and safe.”
The victim reportedly worked in an education centre helping vulnerable youngsters in Jerusalem and the couple’s baby daughter was born in February this year.
It is unclear if a date has been set for the trial.
