This is the touching moment an emotional nurse aunt meets her newborn nephew through a closed car window in coronavirus lockdown.

The heartwarming scene was reportedly recorded in the car park of a hospital in the city of Matosinhos in the Porto district of northern Portugal.

In the video, a mother can be seen holding her newborn baby in the back of a car when a woman, reportedly her sister, can be seen walking up to the window.

The new aunt can be seen visibly emotional by meeting the new family member as her and the mother exchange ‘OK’ signals through the glass.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha report that the baby was the mother’s first and both the mother and aunt are nurses.

Journalist Sergio Pereira Cardoso, writing in the newspaper, said he was related to the family and wrote a message to the latest family member in the article saying: “One day we will tell you how everything was turned inside out when you were born. And how everything turned out okay. Welcome to the family.”

According to the latest statistics from the Johns Hopkins University, Portugal has suffered 9,034 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 246 deaths.
