A pretty nurse has been attacked by a thuggish family on her way to her hospital shift because they were convinced she had COVID-19.

Sandra Aleman Arellano was reportedly attacked on her way to work in the city of San Luis Potosi in the central Mexican state of the same name.

She explained on social media: “I was attacked at around 8.10pm on Damian Carmona Street during my normal routine.

“I went to leave my daughter and then I had coffee before work. When I left the cafe and got to my car some ‘innocent kids’, aged between 10 and 12 years old, threw juice, soft drinks and coffee at me while shouting ‘she has COVID-19, stay away b*tch’.”

The nurse said that she asked the kids to respect her but their mother came and hit her in the face.

Almana Arellano reportedly broke two fingers while defending herself from the attack and is now on temporary leave to recover from her injuries.

The nurse wrote: “What is happening Mexico? We are only going to work. I look after you, but you do not look after me. No more attacks on healthcare professionals.”

It is unclear if the mother and the children have been identified by the local authorities.

According to reports, some local companies have started sending free coffee to healthcare centres in the city as a thank you.
