This alleged El-Chapo henchman who cops claim sent over 100 kilogrammes of heroin to the US each year has been arrested while buying football tickets in a stadium.

Carlos Alberto Salazar, 53, also known as ‘Senor de la Bata’ (Lord of The White Coat), and the ‘Pablo Escobar of Heroin’, was arrested when he was buying tickets for a game between Argentina and Colombia last month in Pereira, in the central-western Colombian department of Risaralda.

Speaking to local media, the head of the local anti-drugs unit Angel Alexander Galvis, said that the suspect, whose extradition has been already requested by United States authorities, had links with the Sinaloa Cartel which was previously led by Chapo Guzman, and other local gangs.

According to police, Salazar was the main driving force behind a gang who smuggled heroin in luggage, vehicles and boats bound for Central America and the United States.

It is alleged that the suspect recruited uni students with good marks in chemistry to work in the heroin production process in a bid to avoid detection by cops.

The man also started to process the heroine in Mexico, where he allegedly gave the drugs to the Sinaloa cartel that worked in carrying it to the United States over the border.

According to the authorities, it is believed that he managed to send more than 100 kilos of heroin to the United States per year, which made him the biggest heroin trafficker in Colombia to date.

Local media reported that his gang also allegedly sent the drug through airports in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Tucson.
