Eight boozed-up women have been arrested for brawling in a nightclub over dancing with the same man.

The incident took place at a club near Bazurto Market in the city of Cartagena in the department of Bolivar on Colombia’s Caribbean coast on Monday night (20th December).

According to local reports, the club was filled with merriment and Christmas cheer for most of the night, and alcohol flowed among the hordes of revellers in the venue.

One man was dancing with a group of women, reportedly throwing shapes with them one by one on the dance floor, when he decided he needed a rest with a couple of females still waiting their turn.

The unexpected break upset one of the waiting women and the festive atmosphere changed to something darker.

A row broke out between the disappointed woman and the tired man, which, in turn, led to an argument between the group of women.

According to the news site Infobae, the women started kicking and punching each other and the brawlers even reached for bottles and knives during the fracas.

As the women were armed with blades and bottles, the police were called to the scene and eight women were arrested in total.

The police took some of the suspects to a medical centre to have their wounds treated before placing them at the disposal of the public prosecutor’s office.

No one suffered serious injuries in the incident as the investigation continues.
