Yuliana Yasar, 21, allegedly stabbed Oguzhan Cavus, 22, to death in the town of Kusadasi, in western Turkey’s Aydin Province, on Saturday 19th November.

The deadly stabbing took place after an evening out with friends, with the couple going home at about 2.30am. It is unclear if they were intoxicated.

Yasar, who is originally from Ukraine, then spoke to her mother on the phone and after the call ended, Cavus asked her: “Why do you speak Russian when I’m around? What did you talk to your mother about?”

As he said this, he reportedly advanced on her with a bread knife, which she grabbed, and she then allegedly stabbed him in the heart with the blade.

His body was sent to the Kusadasi State Hospital morgue for autopsy and Yasar was arrested and sent to prison pending the outcome of the investigation.
